Spiked Punch and Sky Castles
NEW RELEASE
http://allthingsthatmatterpress.com
Spiked Punch in Sky Castles is a collection of four interwoven tales; each of which touch on the most important elements of human life and our shared existence on this planet. It details the true essence of happiness and acceptance, albeit occasionally in a dark and subtle way. Through time, through love, through mental illness, through abuse, through prejudice, through enlightenment, and though haphazard adventure; the entwined lives of protagonists within four sagas illustrate the surprising impact of even the most minuscule and seemingly irrelevant of encounters. This book depicts the significance of living mindfully and acknowledging the presumably random meetings, trivial conversations and subtle moments which may change your life and the lives of all you come into contact with ... often in ways you could never have foreseen.
About the author:
Alexandra de Scheel was born in New York City to a Danish businessman and an Austrian Princess. She has spent much of her childhood traveling America, Europe and the Middle East. She attended Institut Le Rosey, an international school in Rolle, Switzerland for four years, gaining insight into different cultures in a multinational environment. She has previously published a book with Kallisti Publishing, entitled the Science of Satisfaction, due to be released in September. This is a nonfiction work which explains, in layman's terms, how one can find happiness by altering our perception, our thoughts, our biology, our neurotransmitters and our neural associations. Alexandra has also been a journalist for the past ten years. She was the editor of GstaadLife, an English-language newspaper in the tourist region of Gstaad, Switzerland. And she is the Seattle Libertarian Examiner for the Examiner in America. Alexandra possesses a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Sociology obtained from one of the top journalism schools in London and a Master's degree in the prestigious Cognitive Semiotics program at Aarhus in Denmark. She wrote Spiked Punch in Sky Castles after years of both studying psychology and writing professionally. All of the stories have a basis in real events which have occurred around her or unfolded in her studies.

RE-KINDLE THE SHORT STORY!
Given our fast paced, on the move lifestyle, devices like the Kindle may help to re-kindle interest in the SHORT STORY genre. We can all remember our days in high school English class and reading some of the great short stories by authors such as Poe, Twain, Hawthorne, London, and many more. Okay, maybe we didn't like the essays we had to write, but the stories were engaging.
For some reason, the short story genre has not be as popular in recent decades. As a publisher, we sometimes hear that short stories simply don't sell and, many publishers do not extend contract to short story authors. Faced with this dilemma, many authors have simply had to find magazines that will publish their prose. At ATTMPress, we like short stories and have published several anthologies with even more to come.
Along comes the Kindle, IPads and other readers. In our opinion, such devices will help stimulate renewed interest in this genre. The beauty of the short story is, well, it is short. If you are riding in a car pool, on a bus, or even a subway, what better way to pass the time than reading a complete story? Never mind turning over pages or losing bookmarks in the middle of a novel. Or, how about the idea that when trying to get through a novel during commuting time, you have to re-read parts of the previous chapter to remember what happened. The short story can frequently be consumed in one ride, a quick sitting, and with "flash fiction," sometimes in the amount of time stopped at a traffic light. The beauty of the readers is that you can mix-and-match short story authors to your mood. rather than carrying around several bulky books, the readers can house many stories by many authors.
So, if you have such a reading device, download some anthologies and get reading great stories on the go!

Vic Fortezza, Brooklyn Author

HOW CAN YOU NOT BUY VIC'S BOOK?
A Hitch in Twilight is a compilation of stories of The Twilight Zone-Alfred Hitchcock variety. Most involve ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Lucifer appears in two. Most are set in New York, particularly Brooklyn. They are designed to make entertain and to foster thought. They are 20 tales of Warped Imagination.
Excerpt
Beneath the Boardwalk, somewhere along the Brighton Beach side, leeward of a dune formed by the bitter winter winds, lay a long, narrow cardboard box around which rats were scurrying. There was a restless, troubled murmuring within it. Suddenly the flaps flew aside and a man inside sprang to a sitting position like a jack-in-the-box, casting pages of a newspaper, his blankets, aside in his wake. He fought to regain his breath, muttering angrily, fearfully.
His attention was snared by a click. His paroxysm had been vanquished. His senses had never seemed so alive. He peered beyond the dune, past the small gap between its peak and the underside of the Boardwalk. A cigarette lighter flickered briefly, illuminating a hard though handsome face that featured a thick, neatly-trimmed black beard.

FLASHING MY SHORTS

JUST RELEASED
FLASHING MY SHORTS
BY
SALVATORE BUTTACI
Writing stories under 1,000 words is certainly challenging. Called flash fiction, micro-fiction, sudden fiction, and postcard fiction, these quick writes have become quite popular today. They succeed in accommodating readers on the go who lack the luxury of sitting down for long periods of reading. Like patrons at a smorgasbord, they can taste a little of this fine dish and a little of that. They can leave the table without fear of being still hungry.
"With dry humor and a deep sense of irony, Salvatore Buttaci has delivered a book of sparkling gems. These quick stories make us laugh, think, and at times cry. They take us to the core of reality and at other times to the wonders of fantasy."
-Kenneth Weene author of Widow's Walk

PLEASE CONSIDER OUR BOOKS THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
Yes, this is the time of year when consumers are bombarded by sales pitches, specials, discounts and more. Given the current economic conditions, it is expected that consumer sales will be down and, you know, I we don't have have a real problem with that. We have all spent way too much money on things that quickly clog the landfills; cheap things with no lasting value. As a matter of fact, we are urging our customers not to use credit cards for purchases but advocating the use of debit cards. Banks do not have our best interests at heart.
The nice thing about a good book is that it truly is a gift that lasts. Sorry for the cliche, but a book does keep on giving. It can be shared and re-read for many years. All Things That Matter Press is a small company. We look for new and gifted writers that have something they want to say to the world. We do not try to churn out mass market books-that's just not our thing. Our book list is growing-but not too fast as we want to be sure that what we publish is done to the best of our ability. As our authors know, we focus on sales over the internet and not bookstores. Why? Because every layer of distribution takes royalties away from the author, and admittedly, us. We also feel that the future of book marketing is on-line, not in stores.
So what do we have to offer? In the area of poetry, we have some award winning authors and books like Ramblings Through the Attic of Thought, Where The Fenceline Runs, and Haiku Strings. In the spiritual, self-growth category, there is The Power of StillPoint, Opus Dei: Letters to Mark, Jesus taught It, Too: The Early Roots of the Law of Attraction, Transcendence, No More Losers and Collected Messages: Guides for Personal Transformation.
Our novels have all gotten great reviews. They include: The Punjabi's Wife, Journey Into the Past, Quantum Earth, The Last Loose End, The Profile, Gemini's Blood, Human Trial, They Plotted Revenge Against America, Widow's Walk, Where You Are, Ora and The Gem Star, Motherless Soul, The Grace Note, Shooting Angels, and Shades of Luz. Some of these are thrillers, science fiction, love stories, action and adventure. There is a highly rated memoir, Musical Chairs, and some short story anthologies that will will make you think, laugh and even cringe: Revoir, The Heroes and Other Stories and A Hitch in Twilight: 20 Tales of Warped Imagination. We even have essayists in, Between The Storm and The Rainbow and What's Wrong With Us Anyway?
New titles are on the way soon as our list of quality books continues to grow. Give us look. For more information on these titles you can go to http://allthingsthatmatterpress.com or see our list on Amazon.com at http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1259336182/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8&rs=&keywords=all%20things%20that%20matter%20press&rh=n%3A!1000%2Ci%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3Aall%20things%20that%20matter%20press&page=1
So, please consider our books and read great new stories from great new authors. Happy Holidays!

THE HEROES AND OTHER STORIES

JUST RELEASED BY ATTMPRESS, THE HEROES AND OTHER STORIES BY KAT HAUSLER
Set against the colorful, yet sometimes strangely cold, backdrop of Manhattan, the stories in this collection are peopled with a very particular breed of heroes, not quite what they're fighting for. Here you will find characters in progress, people still getting to who they are: a self-conscious student who feels incomplete without a partner, a talented artist blind to the beauty of his own work, a couple who can't bring their love of an idealized past into the present, and an unstable woman whose breakdown causes those around her to realize their own frailty. These everyday heroes all have their own flaws and failings, all fall short time and time again, but struggle on, after worthy but elusive ideals: a sense of self, and a connection to the world around them.
About the author:
Kat Hausler is the youngest of four siblings, and grew up in Northern Virginia. She spent several years in and around Greenwich Village while studying German and Creative Writing at New York University, but since 2008 resides in Berlin, where she writes, teaches English, and is studying to become a certified translator.
