Authors need to show more consideration to their peers. It is incumbent upon authors to read publisher's web sites prior to submission. We have had several cases where the author has sent in the first three chapters, as required, then the whole ms, as we requested. We like the book and offer a contract. Then the author reviews our website and decides, perhaps, that our publishing parameters are not what they expected (being, like the vast majority of both large and small presses, print-on-demand, for example, or "oh, I want this published in hardcover" as opposed to paperback).
In the first place, authors need to keep informed as to what is happening in the industry. Almost all publishers, in some form, are using print-on-demand technology. Very, very few "warehouse" books in this day and age.
Secondly, and most important to us, a lot of time is spent reading and carefully reviewing each manuscript submitted to us. The time spent on submissions from authors who have not reviewed the website, contract, et cetera, is time taken away from other authors who know what we do and how we do it.
Bottom line, authors, regardless of where you submit your ms, please read the material on the web site. It is there for a purpose.

The Women of Wisdom book is the 2009 IPPY Bronze Medal winner for Body, Mind, Spirit from Independent Publishers
Kris Steinnes, Founder, Women of Wisdom Foundation. An inspiring collection of keynote presentations from Women of Wisdom between 1995 and 2006, filled with stories, art, poetry and songs by Women of Wisdom participants.
Answers bloom like wildflowers in Women of Wisdom, a mixture of spiritual, academic, and artistic contributions from professionals and lay people who share their experience of being women and being divine. Since 1993 women have been attending the WOW gathering to uncover and celebrate the power of feminine spirit. In these selections, poetry mixes with history, visual art with the inner spirit, and the intellect with soulful longing, creating an inspiring kaleidoscope of feminine reverence. Often practical, always moving, the guidance on these pages speaks to the divine within us all.
What They're Saying about Women of Wisdom:
“This anthology of wisdom from some of the greatest women thinkers and writers of our time is a rare treasure. It inspires, informs, and gives us hope for the future in which the best potential of all people, and of our precious earth, can be realized.” —Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., author of Inner Peace for busy Women and A Woman’s Book of Life.
“What a magnificent job you did with “Women of Wisdom” The book is beautifully done, the women in it are brilliant, the graphics are exquisite, and the intelligence of your whole organization and effort are stunning.” —Barbara Marx Hubbard, author of The Hunger of Eve and Conscious Evolution and Emergence.
“If you would like to be in the company of women who are encouraging other women to step forward, be leaders, and transform the world from one of fear to one of love, this is the book for you. Women and men can benefit from the wisdom, hope, and challenge that fills each page. It is easy to feel like wrapping yourself up in the pages of this book so you can absorb every ounce of goodness it offers. Kris does an outstanding job of making the spoken words, artwork and ceremonies come to life on the written page.”
—Krysta Gibson, editor, New Spirit Journal
“Women of Wisdom is in the forefront of the biggest change in human history – the only change that will assure our continuity as a species. Those who organize and participate in the Women of Wisdom experience know that for a new world to be born we have to bring a new mind to bear. Critical to this is the rich mind style of women that has been gestating in the womb of preparatory time, lo, these many millennia. In their ebullient and evocative conferences WOW demonstrates a tremendous change in who we are and how we do things.”— Jean Houston

It will be a constant reference for both novices and pros.
Philip F. Harris, ALL THINGS THAT MATTER PRESS
Book Promo 201 is the second book in the Promo 101 series. In Book Promo 101 I wanted to help people lay a great foundation for their promotional efforts, help you learn what promotion is, develop the marketing mindset and we talked about many traditional forms of promotion. If you aren't familiar with the content, the table of contents is posted here - http://www.nikkileigh.com/book_promo_101.htm. (Reviews are posted here.)
Book Promo 201 started out one way, and was a very different book when I finished the manuscript in November 2008. It took me a full year to get the book just the way I wanted it, but I think you will agree it was worth the wait. I also realize that the Web 2.0 technology changes a bit every day, so I'll post updated information on this blog - http://promo101articles.blogspot.com. You will find about 100 promotional articles and tips there and I'll add to them as needed. Of course, I'll twitter about the new posts at .
The manuscript is about the same length as Book Promo 101, so the ebook should be over 400 pages and the print book should be over 200 pages (the book will be 8 x 10). The manuscript is with my publisher, but we don't have the final layout yet - and everyone will hear about it when its ready :) The book is packed with detailed, easy to understand information and packed with over a thousand resources.
I've kept the contents of Book Promo 201 under wraps and part of the reason was because it kept changing, but I'm happy with the contents and am ready to share it. The full table of contents with all the subheadings is about 6 pages long, so I'll just share the chapter titles here.

Our latest release in our line growing line of spiritual/self-help books, TRANSCENDENCE by Gabriel Horn and Amy Krout-Horn is a journey for the soul.
Transcendence is a mesmerizing book of magical realism seamlessly woven with threads of primal wisdom. It will reacquaint readers with the profound beauty of our mother planet, while turning their mind's eye to rarely realized realms of possibility.
About the author:
Gabriel Horn (White Deer of Autumn) is an award-winning author and professor of literature and creative writing, as well as an activist for the spiritual rights of indigenous people, and an outspoken defender of the natural world
Amy Krout-Horn (Last Word Woman) has resided in two worlds; the world of the sighted and the world of the blind. She has been a writer in both of them.
“The Native American spirituality of Transcendence is brilliantly played out in a series of vignettes as crisp and clear as sunlight on the ocean. Horn and Krout-Horn tell stories beyond a single time or place. Rich with exquisite dream imagery, these narratives evoke pain at environmental and cultural losses at the same time that their finely tuned story telling makes the reader turn the page, hungry for more. Transcendence is a feast of story telling, nourishment for any audience with a taste for truth and beauty, as well as the imagination or inclination to follow the Mystery. From the blasé brutality of the mall to the passionate breath of an orca goddess, Transcendence delivers what the title promises; these are myths to unlock the real. This text reads with the elegance and harmony of orature combined with a complex layering of sensual detail. These are dream journeys to salve the soul.”
-Francis Auld Ph. D. Assistant Professor of English, University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County

PM Moon Publishers, LLC 's Rajah and the Big Blue Ball Starts Virtual Tour
Rajah LeBeau, the central character in Rajah and the Big Blue Ball by Dr. Mosetta Penick Phillips-Cermak, will kick off her tour on June 8th with a visit to Printed Words Blog.
Rajah Le Beau is a real live dog adopted by Dr. Mosetta from the Cleveland Animal Protective league. He will join Billie Williams, June 8, 2009, on her blog (http://printedwords.blogspot.com) as the first stop in Rajah and Dr. Mosetta's virtual tour.
Billie Williams is a mystery suspense author and a prolific writer.
Philips-Cermak said, "We want to thank Billie for this wonderful opportunity. Ragh and I are looking forward to it. Rajah is more outgoing than I am. He loves being on Facebook and Twitter. He has about 39 fans, and he writes to them three or four times per week. Right now his primary objective is to get people to buy his book so that he can sponsor a cage for a puppy or dog at the Cleveland Animal Protective League."
According to the Cleveland APL website (http://www.clevelandapl.org/) becoming a cage sponsor means that for a lucky dog or cat " ... their cage at the APL, complete with a warm bed, toys, plenty of food and water, and lots of TLC, is the only “home” they have ever known. For others, it’s a temporary home until they find the love of another family. For all of them, it’s the reason they’re getting a second chance."
Rajah said, "Not all dogs are as lucky as I am. That is why my mommy is donating one dollar of every book purchase to the Cleveland APL. Did you know that it is about 30% of the royalties for the book? Wow, that is a lot."
Rajah also has his own page on Facebook.com (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cleveland-OH/Rajah/1894513 ...), and a Twitter account (http://www.twitter.com/RajahLeBeau).
"We are encouraging people who do not have small children to buy a book, anyway, and donate it to a school or to a child that you know. Whatever we can do to generate enough money for our cage sponsorship," said Dr. Mosetta.
